CHILDREN from a theatre school are putting the finishing touches to their first summer showcase.

More than 20 talented theatre school performers will take to the stage for two nights at Langley Park Primary School on Thursday and Friday (July 10 & 11).

The show is the first summer production from the children at Mulholland Avenue Theatre School, which opened in Sacriston in October.

Young performers, all aged from four to 11, will show off their skills with extracts from popular musicals Annie and The Lion King, as well as street dancing, ballet and contemporary solos.

Taking the starring role in Annie will be 11-year-old Sophie Robinson, while five-year-old Louie Johnson will be in the principal role in The Lion King.

Chantel Mulholland, from the theatre school, said: “They have all been working really hard, some of the children in the main roles are only five or six years old.

“They are all very excited – they can’t wait because for some of them it will be their first time on stage.”

Shows start at 6.30pm each evening. Tickets, priced £6 for adults and £4 for concessions, can be reserved on 07956788722 and can be collected at the venue or alternatively pay on the door.

Mulholland Avenue Theatre School meets every Saturday morning in The Fulforth Centre in Sacriston, with classes for children aged four to 17.
