A SUMMER fair helped to raise hundreds of pounds towards entertainment and activities for residents at a Darlington care home.
Staff at Eastbourne Care Home, in Cobden Street, Darlington, hope to raise more than £400 following their annual summer fair and fancy dress competition this weekend.
The fair, which was attended by dozens of residents and their family members, featured a number of attractions, including a raffle, tombola, bric-a-brac stalls and refreshments.
The money raised will go towards the residents’ fund, which pays for entertainment and activities at the care home.
The former mayor and mayoress of Darlington, Councillor Charles Johnson and his wife, Carol, also attended the event.
Pamela Carlson, deputy manager said: “It went really well, all the residents said they thoroughly enjoyed it, especially if they won something.
“The mayor and mayoress visited us before their year in office and said they would come back when they were in because they have enjoyed it.
“So when we asked them to come again they did – they are so obliging.
"We also had families of residents who had passed away - some quite a while ago - come along. It is always nice to have support like that."
