A COMMUNITY arts venue is appealing for volunteers to help celebrate its second anniversary.
An arts fair is being held at The Bridge Centre for Visual Arts, in Yarm Road, Darlington, on Saturday, August 9 to mark its second birthday.
The centre became the base for dozens of creative groups after they were made homeless by the closure of the town’s Arts Centre in 2012.
Volunteers took up the role of running the venue, ensuring the thriving arts scene in Darlington continued.
The venue offers a range of art courses, from watercolours to jewellery making, as well as studio space for hire.
The anniversary event runs from 10am to 4pm and features art and crafts by more than 20 artists, as well as food, music and entertainment.
To ensure the venue looks its best for the event, a number of plants and planters have been donated and organisers are appealing for green-fingered volunteers to plant flowers and help out with gardening.
They are also appealing for volunteer fence painters who can spare an hour or two.
Anyone who would like to help out can call the centre on 01325-244174
