A FREE outdoor cinema in Darlington’s Market Square proved so popular that organisers have arranged to repeat the event.

Hundreds of people spent the afternoon sitting in the sun last Friday enjoying the Disney hit Frozen, family favourite Toy Story and the animated action film The Lego Movie.

The success of the event means that it will return this Friday (August 1) with the three films screened again for families to enjoy outdoors.

The Seaside Cinema is part of the Darlington by the Sea event, organised by Distinct Darlington.

The Lego Movie will be screened at 11am, with Frozen at 2pm, followed by Toy Story at 5pm.

“We were amazed by the turnout last week,” said Alex Hirst, manager of Distinct Darlington.

“It was fabulous to see so many people having such a lovely time enjoying the activities in such glorious weather.

“Now, anyone who missed out – or simply wants to see all three films again – can do so. There’s no need to book – just come along and have fun.”

Some deckchairs will be available but film fans are advised to bring their own portable chairs, rugs and cushions as seating is limited.

Along with the film screenings, visitors to the town centre will be able to enjoy a variety of free activities and entertainment throughout the summer, including Punch and Judy shows, balloon modelling and pirate treasure hunts.
