Royal Navy cadet from Bishop Auckland celebrates completion of training course
A ROYAL Navy cadet is celebrating after he completed his basic training to pass out as a warfare specialist.
Able Seaman (Warfare Specialist) Jordan Walker, 22, from Bishop Auckland, recently completed his training to graduate.
The former Bishop Barrington School pupil was based at HMS Collingwood, in Hampshire, with the navy’s Victory Squadron.
He joined the Royal Navy last October and he will now join his first ship, HMS Bulwark, to practise his skills.
He said: “My career highlight is passing out of the phase one training at HMS Raleigh, it was a challenging experience and I felt really proud to pass out.
“I look forward to learning more aspects about my job and to finally see the world as part of the fleet.”
AB Walker completed his basic training at HMS Raleigh, in Cornwall, before he was moved on to the Maritime Warfare School, at HMS Collingwood, in Hampshire.
While there he learnt how to set up and operate the Royal Navy’s systems that provide details to ships on air and surface activities.
He will now join HMS Bulwark to exercise his skills in a practical setting.
While he was on his training course AB Walker represented the navy at the D-Day commemorative event and he took part in Operation Nile.
