PEOPLE power will again decide how a £40,000 grants pot is shared between community projects in and around Spennymoor.

Groups and organisations can apply to Spennymoor Area Action Partnership (AAP) for grants from £500 to £5,000 for schemes that support employment and jobs, children and young people or town regeneration.

As in previous years, the public can vote for which projects receive grants and to help set the AAP's priorities for 2015-16 at an event at Spennymoor Leisure Centre, on Saturday, November 8.

Michael Wilkes, Spennymoor AAP co-ordinator, said: “The It’s Up 2 U event is another great opportunity for groups and organisations to put their schemes forward and to give local people the chance to say what they want for their community.

“It is also an excellent way for groups and organisations to showcase the work they do and to raise awareness of what is on offer in the local area.”

The deadline for applications to the fun is Friday, August 15.

Forms are available by calling 03000-261136, emailing spennyaap@durham.gov.uk or from the AAP at the council offices on Green Lane, Spennymoor.
