MAYOR of Northallerton John Forrest is backing the Friarage Hospital’s £2m MRI scanner appeal with donations from his Mayor’s appeal for the next 12 months.

The first event, to kick start the fundraising will be held on Wednesday August 6 with a coffee morning and bring and buy sale at Northallerton Town Hall from 10am to 2pm. Anyone who would like to donate items to sell can take them along on the day.

The appeal was launched by the Friends of the Friarage and the South Tees Hospitals Charity and it’s already approaching the £1m mark. The scanner is an essential piece of equipment which can be used to investigate almost any part of the body. Councillor John Forrest said: “As mayor of Northallerton I pledged to work for the good of the town and its people. I am delighted to support the scanner appeal and believe this is something that will benefit local people and enhance our hospital which I know is a cause close to lots of people’s hearts.“
