STAFF and volunteers at a Chester-le-Street charity shop are appealing for donations furniture to or its new furniture and homeware section.

The PDSA shop in Front Street raises money for the charity’s work helping people on benefits pay vets bills for their pets’ treatment.

The store is seeking quality furniture, including three piece suites, settees, beds, desks and chairs.

It can only accept furniture that has fire warning labels. It can collect from donors’ homes.

A charity spokesman said: “If you’ve recently redecorated, had a clearout or moved house and have unwanted furniture taking up your valuable space, then why not donate your items to PDSA?

"Wardrobes and bookcases as well as items such as fridges, freezers, cookers and washers are very popular with our customers who are looking to furnish their homes at bargain prices.

“All donations will help us raise valuable funds to care for the sick and injured pets of local people in need. We also need any items of bric- a- brac that you have spare."

Donations can also be taken to the shop from Monday to Saturday between 9am and 5pm.
