THERE were plenty of thrills and spills when a youth centre staged an It’s a Knockout event at the weekend.

The TCR Hub, in Barnard Castle, teamed up with Planet Fitness to host the event on Saturday (August 16).

About 90 people took part in the team competition conquering obstacles and challenges much to the amusement of spectators who cheered them on.

Fitness trainer Michelle Armstrong, of Planet Fitness, said: “Rachel Tweddle at the Hub approached me because I do fitness classes in the area, including at the Hub, and we discussed a wellbeing event.

“Then we decided this family event would be great for team building, fitness and fun and I think everyone enjoyed it.

“It was also about opening the door to the Hub and increasing visitors, lots of people who live minutes away from the Hub but never go there saw how much it has on offer.”

The £4.5m venue, on Shaw Bank, opened in 2011 and boasts a range of facilities such as dance and drama space, a music studio, spa and therapy rooms, a cafe and a BMX track, it hosts youth and community events and is available to hire.
