A LEADING chain store is inviting local community groups and charities to apply for a £150 donation.

The Wilko store on Osbourne Road, Chester-le- Street is offering money from its Helping Hands budget, or its employees’ time, to worthwhile projects that need some help and support.

Store manager Debbie Stainsby said: “The Helping Hands scheme is all about supporting local projects and directly benefitting the lives of people who live and work close to our store.

“As a company, it’s great to be able to help local groups and charities by giving something back to the area.

“We’d like to hear from anyone who’s keen to make a difference in Chester-le-Street.

“Whether it’s a school that needs an extra sum of money for equipment, a community garden or a dogs’ home that needs extra food and treats, we want to help.”

Donation application forms can be collected from the store and should be returned to its help desk.

The successful applicants will be notified within three months of submitting their application.
