A CHILDREN’S football team has a smart strip for the new season thanks to a local roofing and building firm.

Stanley-based Hodgson Sayers has given the under-8s team of Beamish FC, known as the Beamish Tigers, ten kits and training jackets for its Gateshead Youth League campaign.

Teach coach Steve McGough thanked the firm and said the boys were eager to get the new kit.

“We were thrilled when the company said yes and also provided us with the additional training jackets and tracksuits.

“As a community-based club it is great to get a helping hand from one of our neighbours.”

The company’s managing director, John Sayers, said he was more than happy to meet the club’s request for help.

“We have pledged to support the local community, whether this is through company time or a donation.

“It is good to see young children enjoying the benefits of exercise and proudly representing their home town.

“We have been to the ground to meet Steve and the team and they are a great bunch, we wish them the best of luck with the season ahead.”
