THE Post Office delivery office in Darlington is to pilot Sunday opening hours, starting this weekend.

Bosses hope the extended opening hours for the St Cuthbert's Way delivery office will offer more flexibility of service for customers and allow more options for people to pick up items they have ordered online.

The Darlington office will be open between noon and 4pm from Sunday, September 7.

The pilot scheme will see 100 of the busiest delivery offices with the highest parcel volumes test the extended opening hours.

Rob Jenson, Royal Mail operations director, said: “We are continuing to be more customer responsive and provide more options for people to receive items they have ordered online.

“I am delighted to pilot Sunday afternoon opening at around 100 of our delivery offices across the UK with the highest parcel volumes, including Darlington.”

Customers can still arrange a free redelivery to their home or a neighbour via royalmail.com/redelivery if they miss the original delivery.
