A WOMAN who threatened to jump out of her bedroom window while children were watching from the street below appeared before magistrates today (Friday, September 5).

Lynn Inwood shouted and swore at police officers who were trying to help her, as she hung out of the upstairs window of her home in Ullswater Crescent in Spennymoor just after 5pm on Thursday, August 21.

Lorraine Cooper, prosecuting at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court, said: “She repeatedly used the ‘f word’ and by this point several people had come out to see what was going on, including children.”

Magistrates heard how a police officer entered the house and pulled her to safety but she struggled against him and the other officers and continued to be abusive.

Inwood, 54, pleaded guilty to using threatening and abusive words and behaviour.

Claire Haigh, mitigating, said: “This is a lady in a position of distress who has had issues with her mental health.”

Inwood received a 12-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
