GREAT Aycliffe Cancer Support Group has been successfully re-launched in a new venue.

Earlier this month, the group, which helps people who have been affected by cancer including relatives and carers, met at Neville Parade Community Centre in Newton Aycliffe for the first time.

Founder Allison White, who was diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukaemia in 2009, said: “We had a wonderful night and it was lovely to see new and old members.

“I now go to ten different hospitals due to my poor health and see so much suffering. I felt I had to start a group up.

“We have guest speakers every month to provide relevant information and it is also a great way to make new friends in a relaxed and friendly setting.”

The next meeting of Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group, will take place at the community centre on Thursday, October 2, from 6pm to 7.30pm.

Ms White is also organising a free pamper session for those with cancer at Neville Parade Methodist Church on Tuesday, September 16, from 1pm to 3pm.

Makeup artist from House of Fraser will attend and there will be free goodie bags.
