A COUPLE celebrating their golden wedding say the secret to their success is to look after each other.

Doug and Wendy Lamb, of Ramshaw, near Bishop Auckland, marked 50 years together with a party last night (Friday, September 26).

Former office worker Mrs Lamb, 69, met her 74-year-old husband at a village dance before marrying in Ramshaw Chapel on September 26, 1964.

The couple have two sons, Andrew and John, and two grandchildren Abbie and Adam.

Mrs Lamb joked her husband’s patience was probably the secret to their long and happy marriage.

“I think we have just chugged along as you do and we have got used to each other as we have lived together,” she said. “My husband is a very easy going man.

“We used to go to the same places and we met at one of the local dances in the villages.

“We look after each other and we have a very loving family around us who are very supportive.”

Mrs Lamb loves to read, shop, potter in the garden and go on holiday while Mr Lamb, a former pit worker, is fanatical about flying pigeons.
