A FEAST of international kickboxing featuring young fighters from north Durham is being staged in Stanley this month.
Stanley Civic Hall is hosting the event with several members of the Burnopfield-based North-East Kickboxing Academy vying for titles.
All fighters face international bouts with gyms travelling from Morrocco, Albania, Belgium and France.
Former world champion and head coach Wes Fagan said: “It will be a massive promotion in terms of kickboxing as there has not been an event of this kind of its size in the area ever before.”
Topping the bill will be 15-year-old Zach Glendinning, from Lanchester, who recently lifted the IKF British Junior Title.
He is fighting Albanian fighter Kapaj Valentin for the IKF European Junior Title.
Other academy members taking part include Luca Bloomfield, 13, from Bearpark, Charlotte Potts, 20, Highfield, and Terri Stuart, 15, from Dipton.
Mr Fagan said: “I am pushing all the fighters to their limits as they are in for a tough test on the night, but I am confident they can all overcome their opponents.”
The event is being held on October 11 from 3pm. Tickets cost £25 and can be booked by calling 0799-938-3740.
