A TEESDALE community centre will be turned into a nightclub for one night only this month.
The Hub, in Barnard Castle, will be transformed on Saturday, October 18, to host a club night celebrating its tenth anniversary.
London-based record label Nonclassical combines classical music with conventional club nights around the UK.
Gabriel Prokofiev, Nonclassical founder, said: “Ten years ago, I put on my first classical gig in a Nightclub in London.
“Now there are many young artists and composers putting on their own gigs everywhere from warehouses to pubs to abandoned underground stations, essentially creating a new music movement.”
The event has been organised by Hub co-ordinator Andy Yeadon, who knows Mr Prokofiev from working the Birmingham University music scene in the 90s.
He said: “It’s great to link up with an old friend who has clearly made a big statement in the music world and to use the opportunity to give some of the talented young people we work with a chance to perform with some of the best in the industry.”
Tickets for the club night are available from The Hub and cost £10 in advance or £12 on the door.
Food and drinks will be available throughout the night, for more information, contact 01833-690150.
