WEDDING photographs from the last 100 years will go on display of a village's parishoners past and present.

St Thomas’ Church in Cowshill in Weardale, County Durham, is hosting the exhibition of wedding snaps as part of its centenary celebrations.

It takes place on Saturday, October 25, and Sunday, October 26, and Heatherycleugh Parochial Church Council has already collected more than 130 photographs.

And, at 3pm on Sunday, October 26, a special church service will be held for couples to renew their vows.

St Thomas’ Church celebrates its centenary in February and the exhibition is the first of many events to mark the milestone.

Heather Ross said the display would feature images of people who got married at St Thomas’ and other chapels and venues in the village.

The majority of photos received so far are from the 20th century but some date back as far 1858.

The church will be open from 10am to 5pm both days and refreshments will be served in the church hall from 2pm to 4pm on the Saturday and 3pm on the Sunday.

Any further donations will be gratefully received.

Couples wishing to renew their vows should contact Mrs Ross on 01388-537439.
