POLICE have reminded dog walkers of their responsibility to keep their dogs under control at all times after a Yorkshire terrier was injured in Darlington on Tuesday afternoon.
A large, white, unleashed dog attacked the terrier bitch on the black path alongside the river Skerne near Edmund Street, off Albert Road, at about 3pm.
The smaller animal required veterinary treatment for bite injuries.
The man with the white dog also had with him a black dog on a lead.
The dog walker is described as aged in his early 20s and of slim build. He was wearing a dark hooded coat and was last seen walking towards five arches bridge.
A police spokesman said that regardless of the breed, or size of the dog they have with them, dog walkers are responsible for the animal’s actions and are required to keep them under control at all times.
Anyone who can help police identify the man with the white dog is asked to contact PCSO Craig Murray or PC Jim Edwards on 101.
