A MUSICAL evening has raised more than £2,000 for charity.
The proceeds from Friday Night is Music Night will be split between St Cuthbert’s Hospice and Heel and Toe children’s charity and a donation will also be made to the British Heart Foundation.
The concert was held at Elvet Methodist Church, Old Elvet, Durham, on Friday, November 7, organised by the Rotary Club of Durham Bede and supported by Lloyds Banking Group.
It featured the Durham County Wind Band and soloists including Michael Cave.
Guests included Councillor Patrick Conway, the Deputy Mayor of Durham, and his wife Pat Conway.
There was a First World War theme, with a reading of To The Fallen and a performance of the Last Post, and some favourite tunes from the Last Night of the Proms.
Bill Armatage, president of Durham Bede Rotary Club, said there had been some very generous donations.
“To me, this is what Rotary is all about, raising money for wonderful causes and having a great time doing it,” he added.
Lloyds supported the event with matched giving.
