A COMMUNITY theatre is preparing to stage its unique interpretation of Puss in Boots – set in a North Yorkshire market town.

The Community Players are due to stage their own production of the well-known fairytale on Wednesday, February 18 in Bedale.

It was written by local resident Mal Rowland, who has set his version in Bedale and the surrounding areas.

He said: "When it was first produced in the 1700s it wasn’t well received and is one of the pantomimes which tends to be ignored, as it isn’t often produced."

He added: "As usual, costumes have been obtained from Hong Kong and also made locally, so the audience can expect plenty of sparkle and bling.”

The production will take place in the Chantry Hall, at North End, Bedale from Wednesday, February 18 until Saturday, February 21. Doors open 7.15pm.

For tickets, £5, contact Mal on 01677-423281 or call in to Personal Touches, 23-25 North End in Bedale.
