Eskvale and Cleveland League

ONLY one game survived the arctic elements last week as Loftus Athletic entertained local rivals Hinderwell in the league.

A very tight and competitive saw the visitors score twice in the second half through Chris Harland and Dan Stonehouse as they took the points and local bragging rights. The win moves Hinderwell up to fourth place in the table although Boosbeck have games in hand but it looks like Hinderwell are heading for their best finish in the league this season.

Loftus meanwhile stay third bottom as the season nears the climax in the next month or so. There are not too many league fixtures left, however, the Eileen Hodgson Bowl and Whitby Benevolent Trophy competitions are being run on a league basis this season so there is still plenty to play for in these competitions for the five teams competing in each.

The top two teams in each mini league will then play each other again in the final of the respective competition.

The semi-finals of the D & G Trophies League Challenge Cup and the UPVC Suppliers Knockout Cup will take place this month and next month with three teams, Boosbeck United, Great Ayton United and Lingdale United in both competitions with Lakes United making up the quartet in the League Cup and Lealholm making up the four in the UPVC Competition.
