Durham & District Inter Club Triples League

TWO games ended up in what at first sight looks like comfortable home wins. The truth is that the scores do not reflect the game as both the victories were achieved by very narrow overall score margins.

In the first Aycliffe overturned their away defeat at Ferryhill earlier in the season by beating the league leaders 8-0.

However the result could have been entirely different as, coming to the last end Ferryhill were ahead on one rink and level at another.

Unfortunately for the visitors both rinks lost the last end and in doing so ensured that they came away empty handed.

The score cards showed Aycliffe winning the aggregate score point by five shots to take all eight points. Final scores: P Whittaker 9-8 K Seymour, M Ormerod 14-13 R Jefferson, R Jones 13-10 B Johnstone

In the second game Durham took on second placed Park View and it was expected to be a close game. The aggregate score proves this with Park View getting the upper hand to win by only three shots.

A Pratt for Durham salvaged a point with a drawn rink but the other two home rinks both went close losing out by the narrowest of margins. Park View took a 7-1 win home to put themselves at the top of the league. Final scores : A Pratt 13-13 N Herbert , P Morris 12-13 C Chapman, M Barkass 10-12 B Brown.
