DEMENTIA sufferers and their carers in Teesdale are being invited to take part in a free music therapy this week in Barnard Castle.

The Alzheimer’s Society Singing for the Brain session will be held at the Methodist Church on Friday, February 27, from 10am to noon.

"It’s a stimulating and social activity for people in early to moderate stages of dementia and their carers, friends and family," said dementia support worker, Cathy Clifford, who organises the sessions.

"The Barnard Castle group is led by a trained Singing for the Brain leader and involves a wide variety of music so it’s a lot of fun."
