YOUNGSTERS have been taking part in a Cluedo-style mystery after discovering the school’s trophy cabinet had been “ransacked.”
The pupils from St Wilfrid’s RC Primary School, in Bishop Auckland, have been using their literacy skills to discover which of the six suspects, who are teaching assistants, has committed the crime.
They have been interviewing suspects, searching for evidence, gathering witness statements, creating photo-fits and writing newspaper articles.
Parents have been able to cast their vote over who they think is responsible for the theft via the school’s website.
The police have also attended the scene and spoken to pupils.
Bridget Kinsey, Year three teacher and literacy co-ordinator, said: “We created this crime scene with six suspects who have very extravagant back stories. The children have then had to investigate it.”
“The children have been enthralled and it has really inspired them to write for a purpose.”
