ARMED police surrounded a North-East house as part of an investigation into reports of a gun being fired in a West Yorkshire street.

Residents watched the drama unfold at 2pm. They reported about 20 armed officers in flak jackets plus police cars and vans.

A police helicopter was reported to be in the area for about 45 minutes.

The police activity was in connection with an incident in Stoneyhurst Way, Holme Wood, in Bradford, on Wednesday, March 18.

Police were called to the West Yorkshire address after several loud bangs were heard at 8.40pm. No-one was reported hurt.

No arrests have been made in Bradford in connection with the incident and none were made as a result of the police activity in Durham.
