A ROAD was closed for about five hours in rural north Durham after a lorry overturned this morning (Friday, March 27).
A police spokesman said a Volvo lorry overturned at Long Edge Lane, at the Millershill Lane junction, near Lanchester, at 8am.
The road was partially obstructed with debris on the road. The vehicle was carrying paper pulp which spilled out onto the road.
The 38-year-old driver was treated at the scene for a bleeding head, while the passenger was unhurt.
The road was closed at the A68 at 8.45am and the road blocks were removed shortly after 1pm.
The County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene, as well as vehicle recovery.
