A TEENAGER has donated her hair to a cancer support charity as part of a day of fundraising activities at her school.

Jessica Brown had seven inches of her hair cut off for the Little Princess Trust on stage at the end of a charity talent show at Bishop Barrington School in Bishop Auckland today (Friday, March 27).

The 15-year-old and her schoolmates have also raised more than £350 for the charity and Breast Cancer Campaign by paying £1 to take part in a non-uniform day.

The Little Princess Trust creates wigs for children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.

Jessica was inspired by Rebecca Stuart, the daughter of her science teacher, Marc Stuart, who donated her hair to the trust last year.

Mr Stuart said: “I am very proud of Jessica. She was a bit reluctant when I suggested she had her hair cut on stage, but she agreed and received a lot of support from other pupils.”

A further £350 raised through non-uniform subs was donated to the North-East Autism Society, while a collection bucket passed around during the talent show boosted the total raised for all three charities.
