CHILDREN at a nursery have been learning about fire safety with the help of Cleveland Fire Brigade.

Staff from Saltburn fire station visited Rosedene Nursery, in Saltburn, to talk to children about the dangers of fire and the importance of dialling 999 in an emergency.

The toddlers also got the chance to see inside a fire engine.

Nursery manager Catherine Kelly said: "Three to five-year-olds grasp safety messages very well so we place a lot of emphasis on our children learning about the emergency services as part of their personal development.

"All of the children at the nursery were very excited about hopping on board the fire engine and are now looking forward to visiting the fire station in the next few months."
