A TEAM of eco gardeners has planted a hedge at a secondary school.
The project is the latest undertaken by students from Wensleydale School, in Leyburn.
The new hedge borders an area behind the school set aside for a wildlife garden.
Plants for the hedge were donated by the Woodland Trust.
The eco team was formed to improve the school and reduce its impact on the environment.
Projects have included planting herbs and flowers around the entrance to the dining hall.
Work continues on improving the roundabout in the car park.
Many of the team also collect paper and plastic bottles for recycling.
Geography teacher Kate Whitlaw said: "I am delighted with the amount of effort the eco team has put into the gardening and recycling projects.
"Following a successful application to the Leyburn Food Festival community fund, plants, protective clothing and tools have been bought."
The school, which was granted specialist status for science and maths last year, was recently awarded an Eco-Schools bronze award.
