Pupils dance to Zulu beat

PUPILS at Ox Close Primary School, at Spennymoor, developed their knowledge of other cultures with a visit from tribal dancers.

The Lions of Zululand gave demonstrations to pupils on Tuesday and the 12 dancers also held workshops to teach youngsters about African culture and language, African art, singing and dancing.

At the end of the day children performed some of the moves they had learned.

Deputy headteacher Michelle Forbes said: "It is such a valuable learning experience for the children, we have been learning about different cultures recently during active learning week; this gives them a chance to learn more."
