A LITTLE Book of Offers has given a record business boost to traders in Darlington town centre.

The books, which are issued quarterly, contain vouchers for discounts on purchases and services and the latest issue was the most successful yet - netting businesses a record £43,154.

Twenty eight shops, salons, pubs and restaurants took part in the scheme, which is the idea of Distinct Darlington.

Offers included £8 off selected treatments at Hollywood Nails, in Crown Street, a free veil or tiara at bridal shop Dobinsons of Darlington, in Grange Road and ten per cent off everything at Greenwoods Menswear, in Skinnergate.

DJ Pet Supplies at the Covered Market also offered a £5 discount to shoppers who spent more than £25, while Fit-Lab, at the Dolphin Centre, offered ten sessions for £15 to voucher holders visiting for the first time.

Shoe Zone, in Northgate, offered a ten per cent discount on purchases of £10 or more and assistant manager, Rachel McGargle, said: “The Little Book of Offers has worked really well for us, bringing in lots of new customers and increasing our profits.

“We think it’s of great benefit to Darlington town centre’s businesses, big and small.”

Alex Hirst, manager of Distinct Darlington, said: “The Little Book of Offers is certainly having a big impact.

“The Little Books don’t just benefit the businesses which take part, but by bringing in shoppers from further and further afield, there is a knock on effect for the whole town.

“They also give us a significant advantage over some of the larger shopping destinations in the region.”

The next edition will be available tomorrow (Friday, May 1) from the box office in the Cornmill Centre and Dolphin Centre reception, or from town centre traders.
