A RISING Darlington star is looking to give back to the community by setting up an adult choir group.

Former ‘Sister Act’ and current ‘Hairspray’ star Claire Wilmer is setting up an adult choir group starting on May 8.

She said: “As we get older, it gets harder and harder to find time for ourselves, life tends to take over. I want to provide an environment for adults to come and enjoy themselves and make new friends.”

The group will be working out of Queen Elizabeth Sixth form College, in Vane Terrace.

She added: “Everyone is welcome to attend; we particularly want male voices because it creates a nice balance between the group.”

This is the first time that Claire has set out to lead her own venture. She said, she doesn’t really see herself as a businesswoman just yet but the principal at the college is helping and guiding her.

“She has been great; she has been holding my hand helping me understand everything”

Claire is a teacher at Stagecoach, a theatre arts school in Darlington and Yarm.

She is hoping that this will be an enjoyable activity and will take off.

The sessions will be £4 for people wanting to attend on a weekly basis but the first session is free and will act as a taster session for newcomers.
