SOME of the most talented young musicians in North Yorkshire are set to showcase their repertoires in a concert.
Winners and some of the performers who were highly commended in last year's Ripon Young Musicians of the Year concert will perform on Saturday (May 9), at 7.30pm, in St John’s Church, Sharow.
All seven classes in the competition, which cover all abilities from Grade One to beyond Grade 8, will be represented by performers, who will sing or play a wide range of instruments, including cello, oboe, xylophone, trumpet, clarinet, violin and piano.
The competition, which will be held in November this year, aims to encourage the musical talent of young people who live, or are at school or have private music lessons within 15 miles of the centre of Ripon.
Tickets, which cost £5 for adults and are free for children, are available from The Little Ripon Bookshop, Westgate, Ripon, and Alan's Gallery, Kirkgate, Ripon.
