A man has appeared in court charged in connection with an incident which saw a 29-year-old suffer serious injuries.
Mark Kilpatrick, 49, appeared before Newton Aycliffe Magistrates court on Tuesday (January 31) charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.

Officers were called to an address on Shearwater Avenue in Darlington, shortly before midnight on Sunday following reports that a man had been injured.
A 28-year-old man was taken to hospital having suffered knife wounds. His injuries are serious but not thought to be life-threatening.

Kilpatrick, of Shearwater Avenue, Darlington was arrested at the scene and later charged by police.
No plea was entered at this stage and he was released on conditional bail, and told not to interfere or attempt to contact any witnesses involved.
His case was sent to Teesside Crown Court on Tuesday, February 28 for a plea hearing.
