A woman in her 80s has been taken to hospital following a ‘serious’ collision on a County Durham road.
Durham Police confirmed they received a report of a collision on A692 Rotary Way in Consett at around 10:30am on Sunday (March 17).
They added the incident involved a grey Ford Puma which is believed to have hit a pedestrian.
The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A Durham Police spokesperson said: “Officers responded to reports of a collision on Rotary Way, Consett, at around 10.30am yesterday (Sunday, March 17).
“A grey Ford Puma is believed to have collided with a female pedestrian in her 80s.
“The pedestrian was taken to University Hospital of North Durham with serious injuries.

“Nobody else was injured during the incident.”
A NEAS spokesperson said, "We received a call at 10:28 this morning to a road traffic incident on A692 Rotary Way in Consett, involving a female pedestrian and a vehicle. We sent one emergency ambulance and pre-alerted one patient to University Hospital North Durham with a head injury."
The incident caused the road to be closed in both directions between the Templetown and Delves Lane roundabouts, but it has since reopened.
