With Easter weekend right around the corner Weardale Railway have planned an ‘egg-stravagant’ Easter celebration. 

Weardale Railway has launched an ‘egg-citing’ Easter weekend event that includes The Story Train, craft market, and an Easter egg hunt.

Promising Easter fun that is ‘cheaper than a chocolate bunny’, Weardale Railway have announced that children can ride all Easter weekend trains for just one pound.

From Good Friday to Easter Monday there will be trains offering two routes from Stanhope to Wolsingham and Stanhope to Bishop Auckland.

There will also be a free Easter Bunny Scavenger Hunt at Stanhope Station, where every child will be considered a winner, with plenty of ‘egg-citing’ prizes available.

Children and adults are both invited to take part in the Decorated Egg Competition, where there will be separate prizes for the children and adult entries, the competition will be judged on Sunday, March, 31 at 2pm.

To take part in the Easter egg hunt visitors just need to drop their decorated eggs off at Stanhope Station over the weekend.

Visitors can also look forward to celebrating Easter on The Story Train at Stanhope Station. As no-ordinary train carriage, The Story Train offers so much more as a creative hub of stories, art, music, theatre and other art forms, allowing visitors to learn about passenger travel while they celebrate Easter.

Alongside this Weardale Railway are hosting a craft market and new The Fifteas Tea Room's 'Platform 1' café and Weardale Railway Trust shop will be open at Stanhope Station.

Visitors are also advised to book their train tickets ahead to avoid disappointment.
