A popular Darlington restaurant has jokingly posted on social media in support of another local restaurant, Akbar The Great as they have revealed they are changing their name.
Akbar The Great based on Duke Street in Darlington is beginning a rebrand to ‘ABU’S’, after long negotiations with a restaurant chain in Bradford which goes by ‘AKBARS’.
On Monday, March 25, Akbar The Great revealed they had been "compelled" to make the changes after the Bradford chain served them notice to alter their name.
Following the announcement, fellow Darlington restaurant Babul's took to social media to make light of the situation posting a hilarious response on their Facebook page.
Located on Skinnergate, Babul's posted on their Facebook page saying: “A restaurant in Darlington is being forced to change its name. They are rebranding as ‘ABU’S’
“We find it unacceptable that they will be using the same letters that are used in our name and will now be seeking legal action.”

The restaurant accompanied the post with a picture of Babul's logo, highlighting the letters to be used in the Akbar The Great rebrand.
Babul’s then went on to show their support adding: “Jokes aside, it is a tough period for all businesses at the moment, the last thing an independent business needs is having to fully rebrand.
“Wishing you all the best for your new challenge Abu and team at Akbar The Great.”
In the comments section Akbar The Great responded with their thanks saying: “All Jokes Aside, Thanks for the Support, Much Appreciated.”
