PERSONNEL from RAF Leeming felt what it was like to walk in each other’s shoes when they swapped ranks for a day to raise funds for Comic Relief.
Senior members of Air Traffic Control swapped ranks with more junior members, taking on teamaking duties while the juniors had a taste of power. The event raised more than £60.
Among other fundraising events, year six pupils from Baldersby St James CE Primary, near Thirsk, spent a morning helping out at the town’s Oxfam shop. They raised more than £100 selling red noses and red nose buns.
Mark Lawn, headteacher, said: “Events like Red Nose Day form an important part of our curriculum.
They give the children an opportunity to look at global issues, whilst appreciating the difference they can make as individuals, often through raising funds in fun, but effective, ways.”
