BRASS acts will play a series of free open air concerts in Darlington town centre this weekend as part of Brass: Durham International Festival.
Streets of Brass reaches Darlington this Friday, July 10, with El Autentico Tamborazo Zacatecano first to perform, at 11.30am. On Saturday, July 11, the music moves to the Cornmill, with a series of 45-minute shows planned.
Oompah Brass will kick off the entertainment at 10.30am, with Beat ’n’ Blow and Sosnak also booked. In Queen Street, Sosnak will strike up at 11.30am, with Beat ’n’ Blow following at 1.30pm.
Then, in the Market Square, Oompah Brass will play at 11.30am, Molotow Brass Orckestar at 12.15pm and Sosnak at 2.30pm. Molotow Brass Orckestar will play three street performances on Sunday, July 12, at 11.30am, 12.45pm and 2.15pm. For more information, visit brassfestival.co.uk.
● Fishburn Band will perform a free concert at Fishburn Workingmen’s Club on Friday, July 10, at 8.30pm.
There will also be a guest soloist, Fishburn Primary School pupil Leonie Hobson, who plays clarinet with Sedgefield Wind Band.
Band supporters Julie and Peter Evans will take part in a sponsored walk from Fishburn to Durham this Saturday July 11, at 8am. They will collect donations for the band, which will take part in Durham Miners’ Gala on the same day.
