Trimdon celebrates new play area

A VILLAGE is invited to celebrate the completion of a £50,000 project to make a play area appeal to more young people.

Trimdon Village Hall Association will host a fun day between 11am and 2pm tomorrow (Friday August 31) to launch the enhanced play area next to Trimdon Village Hall, on Hallgarth Road.

Sedgefield MP Phil Wilson will officially open the site and entertainment will include a magician, face painting, bouncy castle and inflatable assault course.

The project has seen the installation of play equipment for older young people alongsude existing equipment for younger children and a piece of artwork created by local youngsters and a grafitti artist at the rear of the hall.

The hall association worked with environmental agency Groundwork North East, Durham County Councillors Lucy Hovvels and Peter Brookes, Trimdon Parish Council, residents and housing company Livin on the project.

The £50,000 project has been funded by Durham County Council, Trimdon Parish Council and County Durham Community Foundation.
