Durham Christian Partnership open day
A CHRISTIAN action group will hold an open day to promote its various projects this weekend.
Durham Christian Partnership (DCP), which is involved in a range of initiatives including Street Lights, the Durham Foodbank, the Cathedral Listeners, the Grandparents’ Support Group and the Learning Partnership, will hold an open day at St Nicholas’ Church, on Durham Market Place, on Saturday from 10am to 3.30pm.
The St Nic’s Coffee Lounge will be open as normal from 10am until noon and there will be a cafe with homemade cakes, scones and sandwiches open from noon to 3pm.
At 2pm, there will be a presentation on the work of DCP. The event will close with a short service of thanksgiving at 3pm.
Guests are expected to include Councillor John Wilkinson, the Mayor of Durham, and Coun Linda Marshall, chairman of Durham County Council.
The Durham Foodbank has fed more than 2,500 people since starting in November. Currently, it feeds 400 people a month across County Durham. Four new distribution centres are about to open, including in Trimdon, Fishburn and Newton Aycliffe.
