Opera company to visit Darlington on national tour
4:20pm Thursday 6th September 2012 in News
AN innovative opera company will visit Darlington on a nationwide tour this Autumn.
Co-Opera Co. will be performing Mozart’s classic Don Giovanni at the town’s Civic Theatre on Monday, October 8.
Described as a company that helps aspiring singers “earn while they learn”, Co-Opera Co. provides teaching programmes led by highly-regarded performers that aim to offer the best advice on skills, technique and improvement to young artists.
The company was founded by soprano Kate Flowers and lighting designer Paul Need in 2009 to promote the welfare of professional opera singers, after they realised that the career paths of young artists entering the operatic profession are hampered by the lack of small-scale prestigious companies with which to work.
Entirely self-funded, Co-Opera Co. is run by a group of over 50 professionals who feel an obligation to pass on their expertise to the next generation, allowing young singers and musicians to benefit from invaluable, and paid, performance opportunities.
Tickets for Don Giovanni are available at the Civic Theatre box office, or online at darlington.gov.uk/Leisure/arts/arts.htm/
