Jockey to face trial over sexual assault in Thirsk

A FLAT racing jockey is to stand trial at crown court after being charged with sexual assault.

Paul Quinn, 35, from Thirsk , is accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a property in the North Yorkshire market town on two consecutive days, on November 24 and 25 last year.

At Northallerton Magistrates Court on Thursday, September 6, the case was committed to Teesside Crown Court for trial, at a date yet to be set.

Mr Quinn’s career as a jockey stretches back to 1997 and he has ridden 159 winning horses in that time.

His biggest success was winning the Investec Dash at Epsom on 2009 Derby Day.

He also won the Mail on Sunday Mile Final at Ascot in 2000 on Eric Alston’s Tornado Prince.
