DARLINGTON police are hunting an opportunist thief who stole a handbag from a car as its owner bought a parking ticket.
The theft took place in Feethams car park, when the tan-coloured satchel, which contained a white Ipod, was stolen from a blue Ford Ka.
PC Helen Inglis said: “We urge people to ensure their car is secure at all times, even if you are leaving it unattended for a matter of minutes, make sure the doors are locked."
Anyone with information about the theft, which took place around 12.50pm on Thursday, September 6, should contact 101 and ask for PC Helen Inglis or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
