CHILDREN are being sought to join a choir with its first concert planned for Christmas.
The Saint Cuthbert’s Centre, in Crook , and Crook and Weardale Choral Society, have joined forces to start a young people’s choir in the Crook and Weardale Area.
The choir, which has been funded thanks to a £900 grant from the Three Towns Partnership, will meet for the first time tomorrow at 4pm at the centre in Church Hill.
Children from year five and six upwards are welcome to attend, as are older children.
Stanley Crook Primary School headteacher Shirley Oswald welcomed the new choir and said: “I think this is a wonderful opportunity for our children – singing just makes you feel good.
“I wish the venture every success”
Singer Margaret Williams will conduct the choir and said: “I cannot wait to get started, I love working with children – their enthusiasm is infectious.”
Roger Kelly who will be supporting Ms Williams on the piano, is hoping to have the first concert at Christmas. For more information, contact Mr Kelly on 01388-730495.
