A1 works could cause delays
2:12pm Tuesday 11th September 2012 in News
OVERNIGHT work is to be carried out on the Great North Road in North Yorkshire from next week - and drivers are being advised to plan their route to avoid delays.
The Highways Agency will resurface sections of the A1 southbound from Barton to Scotch Corner from September 17 to 29, between 8pm and 6am.
Overnight the southbound carriageway, the entry slip road at Barton and the exit slip road at Scotch Corner will be closed. Traffic will use the northbound carriageway under contraflow arrangements.
Traffic wanting to join the southbound carriageway at Barton will be diverted via the A1(M) northbound and the A66(M) to Blackwell roundabout and back along the A66(M) westbound to join the A1(M) south at junction 57.
Southbound traffic wanting to leave the A1 at Scotch Corner will be diverted via Catterick North and then rejoin the A1 northbound to exit at Scotch Corner.
Non-motorway traffic will be diverted via the B6275 to the junction with East Road and then along East Road to Moor Road Melsonby, turning left along Moor Road towards the A66. At the A66 junction traffic will then be directed east towards Scotch Corner where it will rejoin the A1 or west along the A66 for traffic heading west.
In addition the junction with Scurragh Lane will be closed. Traffic will be directed back along Scurragh Lane to the A6108, and then to Scotch Corner.
