Visitors to Shildon museum help to create giant art work
6:27pm Sunday 7th October 2012 in News
VISITORS to a railway museum are taking part in a giant art project where they are helping to create a large drawing.
The Big Draw event is being run by staff at Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon.
The free national scheme has been organised by The Campaign for Drawing and it is being run in Shildon by the museum’s learning team.
The community drawing began on October 1 and it will be in place at the museum until October 31.
Pam Porter, events officer at Locomotion, said: “A few people have had a go and you don’t have to be good at drawing as it’s just a bit of fun.
“People can draw whatever they want but each new drawing has to be joined to the image before it. It has gone well so far and visitors will be able to add to the drawing throughout October.”
The museum is open daily from 10am to 4pm with free entry and The Big Draw event is in the Collection Building and there is no need to book.
Details on the museum’s events can be obtained from 01388-777999 or www.nrm.org.uk/locomotion.
