AWARD-WINNING artwork inspired by British military history is on display at the Greenfield Community and Arts Centre in Newton Aycliffe this month.
Made in Britain features more than 25 patriotic paintings by John Palliser, including three works that scooped top prizes at this year’s Great Aycliffe Show.
A recent preview evening attracted art fans and dignitaries from across the North-East, including the Mayor of Stockton, Lynne Apedaile, and the Mayor of Great Aycliffe, Val Raw.
In fact, Councillor Apedaile was so impressed by the paintings, that she invited Mr Palliser to display his work at the Mayor’s Ball next March.
Mr Palliser, who lives in Newton Aycliffe, said he was delighted his paintings had been so well received.
He explained how his work celebrated patriotism and a nation’s struggle to protect its identity.
“Patriotic art can be Civil War art or art related to a nation’s freedom movements, battles and wars,” he said. “This proud tradition is the single motivation of my art.”
The exhibition runs until October 24 and is open 10am to 9pm, Monday to Friday.
