A MAN who broke into a Bishop Auckland bar and stole £44-worth of alcohol has received a curfew and 60 hours of unpaid work.
Stephen David Harle, of Greathead Crescent, Newton Aycliffe, pleaded guilty to burglary at the town’s magistrates court.
The offence occurred at Bar Mondo on Fore Bondgate at around 4am on August 26 when Harle was living next door to the business.
John Garside, prosecuting, described how the 20-year-old, who is training to be a mechanic, had broken a window to gain access to the bar and had drunk all the alcohol he stole.
Ben Pegman, mitigating, said Harle had not been mature enough to live away from him parents and described his actions as “foolish” and “unsophisticated.”
Harle received a 12-month community order, which required him to complete 60 hours unpaid work and to remain indoors between 7pm and 7am for eight weeks.
He was also ordered to pay £104 compensation.
